Saturday, February 18, 2012 Columbus, OH ---Battlers start off the day strong with a 4th place finish and 2 season bests in the women's 5K. Sophomore Aly Carpenter ran 20:06.87 and junior Kecia Vandergrift ran 23:05.95 both season bests! The women's DMR (Distance Medley Relay; 1200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m) complied a team of Cassy Menas, Rachael Lolua, Lindsey Thayer, and Andrea Sall ran 14:52.29 and placed 3rd in the event. In the other track events, junior Lindsey Thayer ran 1:16.72 in the 400m and senior Ashley Teets won the mile run in a time of 5:21.01. The women's team had 3 season bests in the meet. On the men's side, The DMR started the day off with a 3rd place finish as well. Senior Chris DeRosa, sophomore James Anderson, junior Lenny Roach, and senior Josh Ferguson ran a time of 11:14.55. Anderson had a busy day competing in 4 events. In the LJ he jumped 5.12metes; in the 60m Hurdles he ran a time of 11.01 and in his final event the 1,000m run he ran 3:00.99 and placed 6th. The Battlers had 3 competitors in the men's mile. Senior Josh Ferguson who anchored the DMR ran a 4:49.80 placing 8th in the event after a 4:38 in the DMR. Senior Chris DeRosa ran a 4:55.68 after a good 1200m leg in the DMR with a split of 3:24. Freshmen Jeremiah Goudy ran a season best with a time of 5:19.03. Lastly junior Lenny Roach was the lone Battler in the men's 3K and ran it in a time of 10:07.70. The men's team compiled a total number of 5 season bests. The women placed 9th getting 20 points, while the men placed 13th with 10 points. This is the last full team meet but the Battlers will send a few athletes to Denison and Mt. Union in the next two weeks.
