Saturday, October 20, 2012 ELKINS, W.Va. -- Alderson-Broaddus women's soccer clinched the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season title Saturday defeating Davis & Elkins College Saturday at Elkins High School. "Another absolute battle for 90 minutes this afternoon," said Head Coach Patrick McGinnis. "Being able to go on the road and secure the number one seed and a regular season title is such a huge accomplishment for a fairly young program." Sophomore Olivia Augustine put the Battlers (11-4-1, 8-1 WVIAC) on the board with an unassisted goal at 8:57, her fifth of the season. The Mansfield, Ohio, native led A-B with three shots and two on goal. The Battlers increased the lead with a goal from senior Nicole Lehman with 33:58 on the clock. Lehman leads the team with eight goals this year and was assisted by senior Gwen Brand on the score. Junior Alison Bogar notched the Senators (10-3-2, 4-3-2 WVIAC) only goal of the afternoon cashing in on a D&E corner kick at 39:11. Bogar was assisted by Taylor Morton. Senior goalkeeper Kate Laird recorded six saves in the Battler victory. A-B returns to the Multi-Sport Performance Stadium Tuesday evening to face West Liberty University at 8 p.m. ET. |
