Wednesday, October 03, 2012 PHILIPPI, W.Va. -- Alderson-Broaddus women’s soccer earned a 10th place ranking in the Atlantic Region of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll released Monday. “Anytime you can gain regional recognition it is an honor,” said Head Coach Patrick McGinnis. “For such a young program to make it into the regional rankings in each of the last four years is something that I could not have imagined when we started the program back in 2008.” The Battlers handed a 1-0 loss to arch rival West Virginia Wesleyan College last week to propel A-B into the rankings and put them within striking distance of the top spot in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings. Monday’s ranking marks the first time the Battlers broke into the top 10 this season, despite contests against ranked and previously ranked opponents California University of Pa., Indiana University of Pa., and Clarion University. A-B has won five straight matches and has not allowed an opponent to score during that stretch. The Battlers face Daemen College at the Multi-Sport Performance Stadium Saturday, Oct. 13, at noon. |
