Tuesday, October 02, 2012 PEPPER PIKE, Ohio -- Senior Sarah Holmes’ first career goal proved to be enough to lead the Alderson-Broaddus women’s soccer team to a 1-0 road victory versus Ursuline College Tuesday night. The nonconference win extended A-B’s winning streak to five straight. “That was the true definition of a road game in October, overcast, wet and muddy and very physical,” said Head Coach Patrick McGinnis. “It was so great to see Sarah Holmes get her first career goal, and it could not have been bigger.” Holmes notched the game-winner at 39:31 in the first period. The Baltimore, Md., native’s goal was unassisted. A-B outshot the Arrows 12-10 Tuesday and senior Kate Laird collected her fifth straight shutout in the victory. The Battlers travel to Johnstown, Pa., Saturday to face the University of Pitt-Johnstown at noon. |
