Mitch Smith begins his first season as head coach of the new wrestling program at Alderson-Broaddus College.

Smith was an assistant wrestling coach at his alma mater West Liberty University from 2010-12.  With his help, the Hilltoppers established dominant wrestling program that ranked 17^th nationally in 2012 and 17^th in 2011. Smith coached seven NCAA Qualifiers, three All-Americans, two National Finalists and eight Academic All-Americans.

The Ripley, W.Va., native was a two-time All-American wrestler at West Liberty. He was a seven-time High School All-American, three-time High School State and two-time National Champion, and compiled a 193-3 record at Ripley High School.

Smith earned a general studies degree and minored in education at West Liberty.
