BETHANY, W.Va. -- Freshman Jenny Brewer collected her second first place finish of the season and led the Battler women’s cross country squad to a third place finish Saturday at the Bethany College Invitational. The men’s team ranked fifth and a trio of Battler runners collected top 25 results.

“Jenny ran an amazing race,” said Head Coach Jesse Weiner. “She is still amazing me every week. Both teams ran really well and I am proud of how we did. We keep improving week after week.”

Brewer completed her run in 24:08 and led the pack in the women’s race. The St. Mary’s, W.Va., native has dominated the opposition this season turning in a pair of top finishes including a first place run at the Carl Broughton Invitational. Juniors Aly Carpenter (12^th) and Rebekah McBride (13^th), and freshman Allison Clevenger (21^st) turned in top 25 showings.

Junior Zach Douglas led the Battler men’s team running his race in 29:28 a second better than freshman Connor Horvath. Douglas and Horvath placed 17^th and 18^th respectively. Junior James Anderson crossed the finish line in 30:04 and ranked 24^th in the field.
