Women's Cross Country Picked for Fifth Place Finish
|
Thursday, August 23, 2012 PHILIPPI, W.Va. -- Alderson-Broaddus women's cross country was tabbed for a fifth place finish in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Association preseason coaches' poll released Thursday. “We have a very young team but a lot of leadership as well,” said Head Coach Jesse Weiner. “I believe the freshmen will make an immediate impact and the upperclassmen will lead us to the top. Being ranked fifth is good, but I know we are better than that.” This year’s squad will feature five upperclassmen led by senior Aly Carpenter and will feature a freshman class highlighted by Jenny Brewer. Seton Hill earned the top spot in this season’s poll with nine first-place votes and Wheeling Jesuit placed second followed by West Virginia Wesleyan, Concord and A-B. The Battlers tied for fifth place with Charleston as both earned 103 total points. The Battlers begin the 2012 season Sept. 1 at the Giffin Classic in Greensburg, Pa.
