Women's Volleyball Dodges Arrows 3-2

PHILIPPI, W.Va. -- The Alderson Broaddus women's volleyball team defeated Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) opponent Ursuline College 3-2 (25-18, 22-25, 17-25, 25-18, 15-10) Friday evening at Rex Pyles Arena.

The ABU offense was hot in the opening set and hit .433 in the 25-18 win. AB led set two early, but lost 25-22 and fell in the third set 25-17. The Battlers (18-13, 10-3 G-MAC) once again caught its stride in the fourth set as it hit .324 and captured the decisive fifth set 15-10.

Three Battlers collected 10 or more kills in the conference victory. Freshman Megan Christmann (New Carlisle, Ohio) led the way with 16, Ashley MacDonald (Canonsburg, Pa. ) had 15 and Caitlin Cain (Ashville, Ohio) finished with 14. Cain paced the blue and gold with a .419 hitting percentage and also notched a double-double with 14 digs.

Jillian Brown (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) compiled a team-high 24 digs for ABU and Kayla Peterson (West Liberty, Ohio) tallied 51 assists.

Serving errors plagued the Battlers during the match. ABU led the match with 14 serving miscues and also crushed five team blocks. Christmann and Jayla McCrary (Columbus, Ohio) each recorded three block assists.

The Arrows (18-16, 6-7 G-MAC) racked up just 47 kills in five sets and were led by Alex Leister with 14.

ABU returns to action in Saturday afternoon's Senior Day regular season finale versus Ohio Valley University. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. ET.
