Women's Volleyball Tames Mountain Lions

ATHENS, W.Va. -- Junior Ashley MacDonald recorded double-digit kills and digs as the Alderson-Broaddus women's volleyball team earned its sixth straight win Friday, a 3-1 (25-19, 18-25, 25-16, 25-23) victory against Concord University.

The Battlers (7-12, 3-0 WVIAC) dominated the first set 25-19 and had a .371 attack percentage. Concord took set two 25-18, despite a late rally, and the A-B captured sets three and four to keep its winning streak alive.

Junior Jillian Brown led the Battlers with 28 digs, followed by MacDonald with 17. MacDonald also collected 16 kills and one solo block. Freshman Caitlin Cain added 12 kills, six digs and four assists.

CU was led by sophomore Sarah Jones who collected seven kills and 12 digs. Middle hitter Rebecca Lovejoy paced the Mountain Lion offense with 10 kills.

The Battlers currently has the longest active winning streak in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

A-B travels to Bluefield, W.Va., Saturday to face Bluefield State and Bluefield College. The matches begin at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET respectively.
