Women's Volleyball Loses to UMC and NU Saturday

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- Alderson-Broaddus women's volleyball lost 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 26-24) to the University of Minnesota, Crookston and 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-21) to Northwood University Saturday in the final day of the Ferris State Tournament at Ewigleben Arena.

Sophomore Taylor Dutcher led the Battlers (0-3) with four serving aces, and sophomore Kayla Peterson and freshman Caitlin Cain combined for 15 of A-B’s 17 assists.

A-B finished the match with 10 team blocks to UMC’s four.

A trio of Golden Eagles (2-1) recorded eight kills in the match and junior Paige Mitchell compiled 19 assists. Juniors Lindsey Rees and Chelsea Wienser collected double-digit digs in the match.

The Battlers were led by senior Jillian Brown in the tournament finale versus NU. Brown recorded a team and match-high 21 digs.

Freshman Juliia Pakhomenko and junior Zina Liubymova led the Timberwolves with 14 and 13 kills respectively. Junior Jordan Brown compiled a match-high 38 assists.

The women's volleyball team travels to Lockhaven, Pa., Friday to take part in the Lock Haven Tournament.
