Women's Volleyball Falls in Season-Opening Pair

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Alderson-Broaddus women’s volleyball team lost consecutive contests to open the Ferris State Volleyball tournament against Clarion University and No. 14 Ferris State Friday at Ewigleben Arena.

The Battlers (0-2) lost their season-opening contest versus Clarion in straight sets (25-13, 25-15, 25-17). Senior Jillian Brown paced A-B with nine digs in the opener, followed by freshman Caitlin Cain who tallied six digs and recorded a team-high four kills. 

Junior Hannah Heeter led the Golden Eagles with 11 kills and hit .500.

In the second match versus FSU, the Battlers again fell 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-15).

A trio of Bulldogs recorded double-digit kills led by senior Anne Sutton with 14. FSU hit .376 as a team and senior Samantha Fordyce compiled a match-best 31 assists.

A pair of Battlers recorded double-digit digs, sophomore Taylor Dutcher led the team with 11 and Brown finished with 10.

A-B continues in the Ferris State Tournament with Saturday matches versus Minnesota Crookston and Northwood University.
