Sunday, April 01, 2012 Philippi, W.Va.-- The Lady Battlers Softball Team recorded their third straight win as they finished a two game sweep of Bluefield State 6-0 Sunday afternoon. Starting pitcher Vanessa Bodily went the distance for the win as she threw a complete game two hit shutout. The game stayed scoreless for the first three innings before A-B was able to get things goings. Hannah Whitney led off the 4th with a single, then stole 2nd and moved to 3rd on a sac ground out by Kharrissa Renoth before scoring on a RBI groundout by Emily Pritt. After a 1,2,3 top half of the 4th the Battlers went right back to work in their half. Kristy Kellogg reached on a one out single to center field and then stole 2nd on the next pitch. Adrienne Daniels then drove home Kellogg as she singled to left to make it 2-0. Daniels then quickly stole 2nd and scored on a Whitney single. Whitney would make it 4-0 as she scored on Renoth's double to right center. A-B capped their scoring off in the 6th as Kristen Workman drove home Alissa Darst with a two run pinch hit home run over the left center field fence. The Battlers will look to continue their excellent play as they take on Salem International in a double header on Tuesday April 3rd. First pitch from Hope Field in Salem, W.Va. is at 2pm. |
