Saturday, March 10, 2012 CLERMONT, Fla.—A Kelsey Robling grand slam capped a six-run 6th inning as the Northern State Lady Wolves knocked off the Alderson-Broaddus Lady Battlers, 9-3, Saturday afternoon. A-B (0-6) got on the scoreboard first, using a trio of singles and a Northern State defensive error in the top of the 2nd to take a 1-0 lead. The Lady Wolves (7-8) answered quickly, as an Eryn Yancey single drove home two runs to take a 2-1 lead through three. After neither team managed to score in the 4th, the Lady Battlers scored a pair of runs in the top of the 5th. After a Kristi Kellogg single and stolen base, Adrienne Daniels doubled to left field to put runners on second and third. Kharissa Renoth singled to bring Kellogg home, and a Vanessa Bodily sacrifice fly in the following at-bat scored Daniels to give the A-B a 3-2 lead. Another Yancey RBI-single in the bottom of the 5th knotted the score at 3-3 before the Lady Wolves had their breakout inning in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win. Vanessa Bodily (0-2) took the loss for the Lady Battlers, giving up 9 runs (8 earned) while striking out five and walking five in six innings of action. Mary Mayer and Jennifer Francis each went 2-3 to lead the A-B offense. Kelli Bornander (3-5) picked up the win in relief for Northern State, allowing just one hit in two innings of play. Caitlin Moran went 3-3 with an RBI from the leadoff spot, while Yancey finished 2-3 with 3 RBI and Robling was 1-3 with 4 RBI on her grand slam.
