The NCSA develops rankings to assist prospective student-athletes in gauging the strengths of the top Division I, II and III colleges and universities across the nation. The NCSA uses graduation rates, U.S. News & World Report academic rankings and the strength of athletic departments to calculate the power rankings.

"I appreciate the intention to assist student-athletes with making the best decisions about college choice based on several factors, including graduation rates and academic rankings, as well as strength of the athletic department," said Vice President for Enrollment Management Tanya Shelton.
