Battler have 12 top 6 place finishers at Glenville Invite
Women had 5 top 6 finishers and had 4 Personal Records. In the 800m Junior Cassy Menas ran a 2:37.49 and Junior Lindsey Thayer ran a 2:47.90 for a personal best. In the women's 1500m run Senior Ashley Teets again sold the show by winning the race by 13 second and ran a 4:55. 89. Also in the event was Sophomore Rebekah McBride and Junior Andrea Sall running 5:39.56 and 5:52.58 respectively. Freshmen Ashley Shultz runs a season bests in the 5K in a time of 19:33.50 and Junior Kecia Vandergrift also has another huge PR in the 5K and ran a 22:16.23. Over a 50 second improvement in the last two weeks. Sophomore Aly Carpenter had another good day in the 10K and ran a 43:04.00 and took 2nd place in the event. Junior Kasie Shoemaker had another strong performance in the women's Jav and threw 31.81 meters (104'4") and Freshmen Olivia Augustine had a personal best in the High Jump and leaped over 4'7.5". The women placed 3rd as a team.
On the Men's side, they had 7 top 6 finishes and a copious amounts of PR's. Freshmen John Mundey ran a 2:03.84 in the men's 800m dash placing him 4th. Senior Josh Ferguson won the men's 5K in a time of 16:18.96 and beat the field by 17 seconds. Senior Chris DeRosa placed 2nd in the 10K and ran a 35:38.44 and the time qualified him for the conference meet, also in the event was Sophomore Zach Douglas placed 4th in the event and he ran a 43:43.00. Freshmen Rickie Hathaway got 2nd place in the 110 Hurdles and ran 18.50 and won the 400 Hurdles in a 1:07.62. Sophomore James Anderson compete Friday and Saturday in the Men's Decathlon. On the first day he had 4 PR's. The first event was the 100m Dash and he ran 11.94 (PR); Long Jump was his second event and he jumped 5.46 meters (PR); He then went to throw the shot put and threw 10.14 meters and a new PR; In High Jump he leaped over 1.77 meters (5'9.75"); and in his final event of the first day he ran the 400m in a personal best time of 53.79 seconds. His point total at the end of the first day was 2880 and put him in the lead entering the second day of competition. The second day started off with the 110 High Hurdles and he ran a 20.06 (PR); In the Discus Throw he did not throw a legal and scored no points; he then went to the Pole Vault and jump 2.74 metes (8'11.75"); in the Javelin Throw he came back with vengeance and threw a new PR 43.72 meters (143'5"); in the final test of the day he had to run the 1500m. He yet again set another PR running it in a time of 4:37.49 and beating the field by 20+ seconds. He won the event with 4712 points and qualified for the conference meet. The men's team ended up in 5th place as a team.
