Wednesday, March 28, 2012 Philippi, W. Va. – The Alderson-Broaddus Baseball Team used a monster 5th inning to break open a tie ball game and cruised to a 14-4 WVIAC victory over Glenville State in the first game of the double header. Heading to the bottom of the 5th, with a storm on its way, the Battlers took advantage of 4 walks and 2 errors as they put up nine runs in the inning. Just as soon as the inning ended, the rains came forcing a 1 hour and 12 minute rain delay. After play resumed GSC showed some life as the scored three runs in the top of 6th. A-B answered right back with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the 6th and quieted any thoughts of a comeback. Starter Seth Martin went the distance, going 7 innings giving up four runs and scattering 10 hits. The sophomore struck out six while walking two. Junior College transfer Sean Collette led the way at the plate going 3 for 4 with 3 2B’s, 3 runs scored and six RBI’s. David Bryan, Mitch Roy and Brandon Quay each drove in a pair of runs. |
