Thursday, June 14, 2012 Philippi, W.Va – Alderson-Broaddus College and Athletic Director Dennis Creehan has named Nick Hinkle as the Head Coach of the new Men’s and Women’s Swimming Teams which will began NCAA Division II competition during the 2013-2014 year. “I'm very excited to join the Alderson-Broaddus community at this monumental time in the college's history,” said Hinkle. “In particular, it's a great sense of pride to lead the beginning of the men's and women's swimming programs as the head swim coach. I am eager to begin recruiting the first class of student-athletes for the programs and look forward to having my first opportunity to be a head coach. In starting the college's first ever swim program, I look to begin building a swimming tradition at A-B that will be around for a long time.” Hinkle comes to A-B after three years as an Admissions Representative and the Assistant Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach at Division III Alma College in Alma, Michigan. While at Alma, he was in charge of recruiting for both programs and he also assisted in day to day operations and team workouts. This past season he helped Alma swimmers to break nine school records. "We had a very large pool of candidates who applied for our head swimming position but we felt that Nick gave us the best combination of coaching and recruiting,” said Athletic Director Dennis Creehan. “We believe Nick to be a great young coach but even more importantly we already know what a fine recruiter he has become. We are very pleased to have Nick join us as we begin our new swimming program.” A Michigan native, Hinkle was a four year letter winner and a part of two MIAA Conference Championships at Hope College where he graduated with a degree in Communications.
