Battlers Release 2013 Men’s Lacrosse Schedule

Monday, August 06, 2012

PHILIPPI, W.Va. -- Alderson-Broaddus men’s lacrosse Head Coach Bob Bennett released the 2013 schedule Monday. The Battlers 14-game inaugural season is highlighted by nine home contests.

"I am excited to play in the Eastern College Athletic Conference in our first year as a program,” said Bennett. “The support from the College makes A-B a great place for student-athletes to play lacrosse. We plan to play at a high level but know that we will get taught some lessons by playing in one of the toughest Division II conferences.”

A-B begins the season after a February 17 home scrimmage versus Northern Virginia. The Battler home opener is scheduled for February 23 against ECAC opponent Wheeling Jesuit. The Cardinals are one of seven ECAC foes the Battlers face this season and men’s lacrosse is eligible for postseason play in its first season. The conference features four top 20 programs.

The team travels for consecutive road contests February 28 and March 2 versus Young Harris and Shorter respectively.

East Coast Conference foe Mercy College visits A-B March 7.

The Battlers remain home for a game against Mount Olive, one of two Conference Carolinas opponents on the 2013 schedule, March 17.

A-B visits Greensburg, Pa., March 20 to face Seton Hill.

The team returns home for a pair of home contests. The Battlers play Belmont Abbey March 24 and Lake Erie March 27.

The Battlers contends with Mercyhurst April 7 in Erie, Pa. A-B wraps the home slate with three-straight contests in Philippi, W. Va. The blue and gold face Ohio Valley April 10, Roberts Wesleyan April 14 and Lindenwood April 25.

The season ends April 27 versus Walsh.
