PHILIPPI, W.Va. -- The Alderson Broaddus men's basketball team lost its season opener to former West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) rival Glenville State College 74-65 Saturday evening at Rex Pyles Arena.

Donte Morales led the Pioneers (1-0) with a team-high 21 points and was 5-for-8 from long distance. GSC finished the game 9-for-26 from behind the arc and connected on six treys in the opening half.

ABU trailed at the half 44-37, despite leading by as many as 14 points in the opening 20 minutes. Senior Adam Kline (Winfield, W.Va.) recorded his first double-double of the season in the loss. Kline pulled down 15 boards and scored 11 points. Stuart Clark (Baltimore, Md.), Malcolm Tatum (Columbia, Md.) and Thylas Perkins (Chicago, Ill.) also finished with double-digit scoring totals.

The Battlers (0-1) accumulated nine personal fouls in the second half, which led to five easy points for GSC from the charity stripe.

ABU takes part in the Shippensburg University Tournament beginning Friday, Nov. 15. The blue and gold face the tournament host beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
