Patrick McGinnis

Patrick McGinnis is currently in his fourth season as the first and only Head Coach of the Alderson-Broaddus Women's Soccer Team.

Year four saw the program continue to improve and reach new heights.  The squad finished the 2011 season with a 11-7-3 record as they finished 2nd in the WVIAC -- their highest finish ever.  The success continued in the postseason as they captured their first ever WVIAC Tournament Championship and reached the NCAA Tournament, losing to #23 Slippery Rock in the First Round.  For his efforts, McGinnis was named the 2011 WVIAC Coach of the year for the second time in three seasons.   His players went on to receive various honors including WVIAC Player of the year, 10 All-WVIAC Awards, six NSCAA All-Atlantic Awards and four Daktronics All-Atlantic Awards.

The 2010 season saw Coach McGinnis lead the Lady Battlers to a 12-5-4 record and a third place finish in the WVIAC regular season.  The women's magical season ended with an overtime lost to West Virginia Wesleyan in the WVIAC Tournament Championship game.  The Battlers finished the season ranked fourth in NCAA Division II in Save Percentage, 10th in Goals Allowed and 15th in Shutout Percentage.

In 2009, McGinnis worked to put A-B Women's Soccer on the map as they posted a 12-4-1 record in just the second season for the young program.  The 12 wins marked the largest improvement in all of Division II between the 2008 and 2009 season and the seventh biggest improvement in NCAA Division II history.  A-B finished fifth in the WVIAC regular season, reached the WVIAC Tournament Quarterfinals while spending time in both the NCAA and NSCAA Atlantic Region Top 10 polls. A-B landed two players on All-WVIAC First Team and two players on the NSCAA All-Region Team.  He was named the 2009 WVIAC Coach of the Year for his efforts.

McGinnis was hired in April 2008 to start the first ever A-B Women's soccer team.  The Lady Battlers finished the first season with a 3-13 record and recorded their first ever win against Salem International, 5-0, on Sept 29, 2008.

In his four years at the helm of Battler women's soccer, his players have earned 22 All-WVIAC Awards, six WVIAC Player of the Week awards, 11 NSCAA All-Atlantic Region Awards, and seven Daktronics All-Region Awards and maintained a 3.0 or better GPA in each of the last five semesters.

Prior to coming to A-B, Patrick spent from 2007-09 at Glenville State College as the Sports Information Director and the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance.

He got his coaching start as he was named the head women's coach at Salem International in February 2006 at the age of 24.   McGinnis was 3-13 in his one season at SIU before leaving for Glenville.

Patrick has been on staff with the WV Olympic Development Program since 2005 and also coaches with the North Central United Soccer Club.
