![]() Carrie Bodkins is entering her 8th season as head coach of the Alderson-Broaddus women’s volleyball team. Over the past eight seasons, Bodkins has compiled a 152-133 record (.533), including an 89-35 mark in West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play (.718). Bodkins also serves as the Senior Associate Athletic Director, Senior Woman Administrator and Sports Management Instructor. Last season, Bodkins led the Battlers to an 11-3 conference mark, a 20-16 overall record and a trip to the WVIAC Tournament Finals. Under Bodkins’ leadership, A-B garnered numerous conference honors during the 2011 season including three All-WVIAC Tournament selections, a pair of First Team All-Conference picks, two All-Freshman choices, an Honorable Mention All-Conference pick and the WVIAC Freshman of the Year. The Battlers have finished in the top three spots of the conference standings each of the last five seasons and have reached the conference finals in each of the past three. In 2008 Bodkins was named WVIAC Coach of the Year after she guided the Battlers to a 25-13 overall record with a 13-2 conference finish. Bodkins has held various roles during her tenure in the Battler athletic department. She served as A-B’s sports information director for her first four years at the school and three as compliance director. Prior to her time at A-B, Bodkins was the head women’s volleyball coach at Davis and Elkins College, during which time she was also the senior woman administrator and a physical education instructor. A two-sport athlete during her collegiate career at A-B, Bodkins was a four-year starting middle hitter for the volleyball team and earned First Team All-WVIAC honors for three years, including conference Player of the Year and All-Atlantic Region honors her senior year. She finished her career as the Battlers all-time leader in kills and blocks, and her jersey was also retired. She was also a 1000-point scorer and four-year starter for the A-B women’s basketball team. Bodkins is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association and has served in a number of leadership roles within the volleyball community she is a member of NCAA National Volleyball Rules Committee, comprised of nine members across all divisions and is one of only two DII coaches, Chair of the WVIAC SWA group and currently serves as the Chair of the WVIAC volleyball coaches. Bodkins earned a bachelor of arts in social sciences from A-B in 1999, a bachelor of arts in elementary education from Fairmont State in 2003, and a master’s in sports management from West Virginia University in 2007. She currently resides in Belington, W.Va., with her husband Curtis Bodkins and their two children Trenton and Rylee. |
